Nasr record historic win to become Mazda Professional Cup Champions
Mon,28-Mar-16

Nasr ended up champions of the Mazda Professional Cup as they blanked Sohar to a 2-0 victory with goal in either half.

The game started even as both teams felt each other out but it was not long before Nasr began to take control of the game. Sohar tried mustering a response but Nasr didn’t let them have the ball as much.

Nasr finally took their chance as they went ahead through a Maasa Al Saadi goal as he opened the scoring for Nasr with a fantastic overhead kick which was followed by an even further spectacular somersault celebration.

Sohar almost equalised before the break, but for their effort to take a deflection and bounce off the bar leaving Nasrs lead intact in the first half.

Sohar came back and started brightly but they couldn’t find a way past Ahmed Al Rawahi but the Nasr custodian would not let them through, rewarding his coach’s public backing in front of the media as he ensured his team don’t miss the towering presence of Faiz Al Rushaidi, who was travelling with the National team.

The Nasr players soaked the pressure and were rewarded as they doubled their lead through a Mohammed Jamal scorcher as he struck the ball from 25-30 yards out to seal the Mazda Professional Cup for Al Nasr as Sohar failed to muster any sort of reply to them.

The presentation ceremony saw OFA Chairman Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi give away the medals and the trophy and was followed by the players celebrating with the fans and the Board of Al Nasr Club.
