Title has unknown destination as 3 teams contend on Final Day
Sun,24-Apr-16

The Omantel Professional League (OPL) plays its final round today as the title can go to just about any one of 3 teams even at this very late stage.

Orouba, contenders in 3rd place, are just a point behind Suwaiq and Fanja and play Muscat at the Seeb stadium. Muscat are involved in their fight to keep their OPL status and will provide tough competition fuelled by their determination to stay up.

Muscat have shown incredible resilience in the 2nd half of the season but are still wanting of some kind of a result to guarantee survival.

Orouba, who have a strong team and are defending champions, do not have their fate in their own hands as even a win doesnt guarantee the title as they require Fanja and Suwwaiq to drop points, only possible through a draw between the 2.

Their title hopes are helped with Fanja and Suwaiq taking part in a title showdown at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. A stalemate, wholly possible between 2 titile rivals, is a likely outcome and could work in favour of Orouba should they beat Muscat.

Fanja and Suwaiq have it far simpler, a win guaratees either of them the title and they could very much be treating this game like a title showdown. Both teams have their fates in their own hands and it is likely a champion for the Omantel Professional League will be found at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex today.

A draw between the 2 and a loss or draw for Orouba will lead to a playoff for the OPL between the two sides.

Muscat, Shabab, Musannah and Khabourah are all in danger of getting the relegation playoff spot at the end of today's round and would do well to get wins.

It is one of the closest title races ever and it's exciting conclusion will finally be witnessed today.
